A new member of the family arrived this weekend. She was a decidedly unexpected addition, but has been eagerly adopted by one and all. Cole and Imogen had naming rights, and Bessie Flash just seemed the perfect fit. She was lovingly made by a grandfather for his grandkids who have now outgrown it, so he added it to his garage sale...D spotted it whilst out cycling at the weekend and snapped it up (well, he paid for it and then drove back to get it...visions of a cyclist towing a go-kart...)
This bad baby cost all of $12. Really! She is beautifully made, and has been already much enjoyed by the munchkins, and D and I! Of course, she does also make me rather thankful that we have good health insurance and I know where the hospital etc is now...I am after all married to the man known universally as Crash (and with good reason!) and genetics being what they are combined with the smalls' extreme enjoyment of speed...
These photos were taken on the first rides...it was quickly decided that their cycling gloves (thanks again, Uncle Phil!) would be a handy addition since palms are not the most robust when it comes to asphalt contact.
Oh yeah, and did I mention Bessie has no brakes?
