(Does anyone else feel like I've sworn in the title to the post? Eek, time's a ticking!)
Well, hello again my lovelies. I have been procrastinating (again!) about posting here, for several reasons. For one I've been a bit down - nothing serious, just that usual post-move slump where you're settling in and enjoying the new place, but the initial high has worn off a little and you still don't know anyone and are a bit lonely. (I have been through this so many times you'd think I'd have it sorted by now!) And the kids are missing their NZ friends and haven't really made any new ones yet, and we're all a bit frustrated - the kids are so desperate for school (did I do the right thing not pushing to get them slotted in this year when we arrived? I'm still fairly sure that for both of them, starting at the beginning of next year is the best choice, even though I know that they would have been fine academically for this year. But, had they started this year they'd be super young for their class as well as having the disadvantage of starting midway through the year when everyone else had started in January, but man, they are so ready for school, and so am I, frankly. I think they're a bit sick of having me around all the time, too. Maybe I need to think of some new things to keep us entertained. Here endeth the world's longest parentheses.) And let's just say our budget has perilously little wiggle room right now after the financial hammering we've taken this last year or so, and then with the move on top of that. (Moving = haemorrhaging money) So retail therapy is definitely out! The budget's a temporary thing, and we're making great progress, but still.
And to add to all that I'm feeling very adrift on where to go creatively - do I continue with Bahacoca and earnestly relaunch it, do I do something different with Gawjus (and if so, what? So many ideas!!!), do I bag it altogether? Since working outside the home isn't an option until next year, I'd really like to do something that would generate a few pennies and that I can do from home. and since I breathe textiles and craft it seems like a natural fit, but narrowing it down is doing me in.
(All that's to say I'm feeling a bit introspective and bleaty all round, but just ignore me and it should pass! I just don't like to come to my happy place and have a pity party...so I went and partied elsewhere! ha)
Then to add a little more fun to the equation, last week we had a lightning strike that fried our modem and our tv satellite dish, oy vey. We were really lucky that all our appliances were absolutely fine - still not quite sure how *that* happened. I was so very happy to see the modem box arrive this week!
And finally, I have opened my Etsy store again, since whilst my studio is still a mass of boxes until we get the shelves sorted (see budget notes!), at least I can access my knit hats and the like. I've also listed the Christmas hats you see here (I usually mean to list thesae hats and then realise it's the 22nd of December!) - these are all my own design, and are very definitely limited edition. If there's one you see that you'd like in another size, please let me know - I probably won't be making any more, except for custom ones.
