...that was quite the unintentional break! Contrary to popular opinion (and thank you for your sweet emails and messages of concern!), I did not in fact fall off the edge of the earth, I've just been teetering on it quite a bit lately! Things have been manic, and somehow the more time that elapsed since my last post, the harder to write another. Let's start again, shall we?
I have been making and doing in the meantime, but to be honest I misplaced my creative mojo for a while, and I seemed to be all a bit overwhelmed with external inspiration (hello, Flickr! Oh how I have lost hours traipsing through your vast caverns of eye candy!) and decidedly underwhelmed with internal inspiration (hello? anyone there?) I hate when that happens...when the only ideas I come up with are other peoples'. I am starting a *just do something. Anything!* strategy (from erm, now), making myself make every day, in the belief that somewhere in that making there'll be a mojo rediscovery.
At least Cole & Immy clearly haven't noticed my conundrum...for a wee friend's birthday the other week it was suggested I sew them a scooter as a gift. And not for the first time. (long may they continue to believe mama can do anything!)
We missed you! I don't think there's anything wrong in making 'other people's stuff', give your brain a bit of a break and let your fingers get busy. You end up with something nice at the end no matter whose idea it is!
And yeah, although the high expectations of our children are sometimes difficult to deal with, long may they last! :)

Age 5 was when my children stopped asking me to make the impossible for them and started trying to do it themselves. In fact, my 8 year old boy made an airplane from a cardboard box last night and tried to sleep in it on the top bunk. He was mightily disappointed when I took it away at bedtime since I was afraid he'd try to launch it after I left the room.
Glad you're back here and think a little rest can be good for the soul sometimes. :)
