Crochet has always intrigued me and -thanks to a dismally unsuccessful 30 minute attempt at it a few years ago - I thought it would be a skill that would always elude me. Until Monday, that is, when I borrowed a beginning crochet book from the library, and sat down with a hook and some hand dyed yarn (which isn't nearly so obnoxious a shade of orange in real life!) and things clicked. Yay - I feel so cool for figuring this out. It still feels a little awkward and less of the comfort factor for me compared to knitting (then again I have been knitting for over 25 years compared to an evening or so of crochet!), but the rhythm is starting to come. Of course, I have no idea what to do next -or whether I will actually do anything...it's more the conquest that's thrilled me, I suppose.
Then again, Attic24's gorgeous granny stripe blanket is what set me off on the learning curve in the first place, and it still appeals mightily. A full size blanket too much for a first crochet project...ya think?
