Grr...I've spent a good part of the day wrestling with my sewing machine and some insolent thread...but that is a story for another post...
I was recently contacted by someone who bought one of the BahaCoca bunny ears hats from a Wellington retailer a few years ago, and she had hunted me down for another (the act of being hunted made me feel very special indeed!)...a toddler size for her son, as well as a larger one for her 4 year old daughter. Being a 4 year old girl though, the standard yarn choice of grey/brown marle simply would not do...and this was the result. (It's a little pinker in real life, but still with a generous red, and bits of oranges, purples, mauve, lemons and white) It worked up so cutely that I confess to having a rather tough time letting it go. I was rewarded last night though, when an email came through from the customer saying how much all members of the family loved their new hats, complete with a sweet photo of the new bunny wearers. Warm fuzzies all round.
**Giveaway closed - congratulations Nikki and Sheryl!**
Sheesh, she promises a giveaway, and then runs away!! Sorry about that - a bit of a technical glitch, and a 4+ hour battle trying to get a tangle of yarn undone, and well between that and everyday life around here...time goes by!
(please excuse the crappy taken-at-night-without-decent-lighting photos...I hope to replace them with daytime versions tomorrow!)
I really agonised over what to include in my giveaway...I'm not at all sure who my readers are yet really, and maybe I shouldn't do something so specific, yadda yadda yadda. I seriously overthink things sometimes. And if you could only see the list of possible gifties that I flip flopped over. I even lost sleep over this, Really. I need to get out more. (Though on the good side, I will most definitely be doing a few more of these down the road, and yay, I already have a list of ideas!)
So, if you would like a brand new and shiny copy of Twisted Sisters Sock workbook and your choice of the silk/merino blend sock yarns in the pic - hand dyed by moi in either Persephone (spearmint greens) or Dionysus (Amethyst, purples and a shot of blue), please just leave a comment, telling me a little about yourself...and your approach to nasty tangled knotty messes - negotiate or snip?
Good luck - I'll close the comments for this on Monday night my time, and we'll draw a name on Tuesday. Oh, and I'm happy to ship anywhere, so everyone's welcome!
Guess what I'm planning on doing this weekend? This is just on 2.5kgs of gorgeous merino (and some silk-merino blends in there for trials) and this wet grey weekend will hopefully offer up a few little pockets of time to get in some dyeing. The shop is desperately overdue for an update, and I have a little interest from some retailers here so I need to get this sorted. And I afeeling rather wanty for some skeinwinders to speed up the process...a swift gets old fast. And no, of course I'm not planning on doing this as a way of avoiding unpacking those remaining boxes, sorting out my sewing studio, or putting together the last three shelving units whose instructions are designed by the very devil himselfintricate No, not that at all, perish the thought!!!
