It's finished, labeled, washed and dried in all its crinkly goodness. And it still makes me think of pistachios and milky chocolate. The quilt measures abour 44" x 40" post washing, with cotton batting inside. I love the colourings of this line (Origins by Moda), how *pretty* and botanical it is, without being too girly or gender specific.
The quilting is dense straight line quilting through the offwhite strips (Moda snow), which gives it a great textural aspect (I love me some heavy quilting!) whilst still having the *fluffy* aspect of the unquilted squares. Oh, and this is the first quilt I have basted using spray (thanks to some gentle persuasion from Ashley. No, she didn't write that post just for me - you know, unless she's secretly stalking me and reading my thoughts, lol, but it was the kick in the pants I needed to finally try something I've not quite summoned up the courage to do in my 12+ years of quiltmaking!) And it works really really well! And is a much speedier process than pin basting. Consider me a convert, at least for smaller quilts, since I haven't tried to baste anything larger just yet.
The back is just a fun pattern that I came up with whilst I was mucking around with some leftover Origins pieces, and Kona taupe. The binding is Kona artichoke. The artichoke/taupe combination is floating my boat in a major way....I have another little something planned in this soon!
And my labels, front and back:
(and just looking at this label on the back of the quilt, I have realised I have the wrong suffix on my website address...should be .co.nz. Duh! Guess I'll be making a new label for here, then! lol)
It's for sale here.
